Can a staircase be installed with underfloor heating?
Clear, concise answers.
A staircase can be installed without issue in rooms with underfloor heating, provided the following points are observed:
Heating-free zone: In the area of the stair stringers and bearing points, no heating pipes may be laid. The staircase load should ideally be transferred directly to the structural slab.
Early coordination: Heating engineer and staircase builder should coordinate the staircase position early on. This allows heating loops to be routed around the staircase area.
Indoor climate: Keep the room temperature during installation and the first heating season constant at 18--24 degrees Celsius and a relative humidity of 30--60%, to prevent wood and screed from expanding differently.
For retrofitting: If the underfloor heating is already installed, the screed can be cut away in the bearing area. HTS checks the conditions during the survey and plans the optimal solution.
