What measurements are needed for choosing a staircase?
Clear, concise answers.
To plan the right staircase, several measurements must be taken. For a preliminary phone quote from HTS, just 3--4 key measurements are sufficient:
Floor-to-floor height: The height difference from the top of the finished floor below to the top of the finished floor above. This measurement determines the number of risers.
Clear room height: The distance from the finished floor to the underside of the ceiling -- important for headroom.
Deck opening: Length and width of the opening in the ceiling. This determines which stair shapes are possible.
Deck thickness: Screed + structural slab + floor covering -- affects the overall height.
Floor area: The available space for the staircase determines whether a straight, winder, or other shape is feasible.
During the on-site survey, the HTS specialist precisely measures all details, including wall condition and fixing possibilities. This ensures the staircase fits exactly.
