Harp Stair — Layout variation
Category: Layout variation
Staircase with a cable-like support structure on the open side.
In a harp stair, the treads on the open side are held by a so-called harp — a frame of steel cables or square tubes fixed at the top and bottom of the ceiling. A bearing stringer or height-adjustable step brackets are mounted on this harp; a further stringer is usually fitted on the wall side.
