Stair Planning Process — Preparation steps
Category: Preparation steps
Systematic process from site survey to production-ready drawings.
Stair planning covers every step from the initial needs assessment to the workshop-ready drawing. It starts with the on-site measurement – establishing floor-to-floor height, stair opening and the plan layout. From there, the stair shape, rise-going ratio and number of steps are defined. The next stage covers the choice of construction, structural sizing, design of railing and handrail and material selection. The process concludes with the elevation drawing including all detail views. Good stair planning considers early on the interfaces with dry construction, floor build-up, lighting and railing connections, and prevents expensive rework on site.
