On-site measuring for new staircases and cladding renewal — precise, in conjunction with our manufacture in Witten.
Why we measure on site — and how
No plan matches the as-built state exactly: walls are rarely plumb, floor heights differ, and even concrete steps are rarely exactly straight because of the formwork. That is why we measure on site — using two clearly separated methods, depending on the task. For a complete new staircase we measure the stairwell by hand: with folding rule and sliding bevel, and with a rotating laser as a plumb and height reference. This captures floor height, wall geometry, out-of-plumb references and the ceiling opening exactly as built. When it comes to renewing a tread cladding on a concrete or metal staircase, we trace every single step with a digital measuring device that records the contour directly onto the laptop — to the millimetre, because every existing step has its own shape. Important: we always carry out the measurement in conjunction with our own manufacture. Whoever measures bears responsibility for the construction — which is why with us there is no pure measuring for an order placed elsewhere. The measuring fee is €150-250 and is credited against an order.
