Our core business
Solid wood staircases
From our own workshop in Witten — treads, stringers and risers freely combined in six woods and three surface finishes.

What defines a solid wood staircase with us
For us, solid wood means: all load-bearing and visible components made of solid timber — treads, stringers and risers. It does not mean everything has to be the same wood. On the contrary: with us, mixing materials is the norm, not a surcharge-only special request. Oak treads on white-lacquered hevea stringers, beech-heartwood treads with ash risers — whatever suits your room, we combine freely. Because we manufacture in our own workshop in Witten, there are no production-related restrictions on wood choice, surface finish or construction type.
- Six woods to choose from: oak, knotty oak, beech, beech heartwood, ash or hevea
- Three surface finishes: oiled with hard wax oil, clear-lacquered or white-lacquered
- Material mix is standard: treads, stringers and risers may be combined from different woods and surfaces
- Two wood constructions: stringer staircase (mortised or open-string) and folded staircase (free-standing or on stringer beams)
- All flight forms: straight, quarter- or half-turn, landing, Z- or U-shape
- Everything from one source: on-site measurement, manufacture in Witten, installation and adjustment in place
Six woods, three surface finishes — freely combinable
| Wood | Oiled (hard wax oil) | Clear-lacquered | White-lacquered |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oak | Warm tone, open grain emphasised | Clear grain, slightly lightened | Opaque white, texture stays tangible |
| Knotty oak | Lively knots, rustic character | Knot pattern clearly protected | Opaque white, knot texture visible |
| Beech | Light and even, calm look | Light tone, slight sheen | Opaque white, fine grain |
| Beech heartwood | Reddish heart, striking figure | Heart contrast preserved | Opaque white, figure subdued |
| Ash | Light with lively grain | Clearly protected, brightly radiant | Opaque white, grain faintly visible |
| Hevea | Medium-brown, even tone | Calm, warm surface | Opaque white — popular for stringers |
Material mix is standard with us — not a surcharge exotic
Many assume a solid wood staircase must be made entirely from one wood. With us the opposite is the norm: because we manufacture ourselves, we freely combine treads, stringers and risers — by look, room and budget, without a surcharge logic for the combination itself.
Common assumption: everything from one wood
The notion that a solid wood staircase is only "real" if every component uses the same wood.
- Limits design to a single tone
- Leaves more affordable stringer woods unused
- Follows a catalogue mindset we do not need
HTS practice: freely combined
Treads, stringers and risers are freely combinable — solid wood means solid timber, not "from the same wood".
- Example: oak treads on white-lacquered hevea stringers
- Example: beech-heartwood treads with light ash risers
- Visible parts in premium wood, structural parts more affordable — planned on purpose
