Closed Stair — Layout variation

Category: Layout variation

Staircase with risers between all treads.

In a closed stair, risers are fitted between all treads so that no openings exist between the steps. This offers several advantages: increased stability, better dust protection, lower impact sound and greater safety, especially for children and pets. Closed stairs appear more solid and classical than open stairs. For closed stairs with a going under 260 mm, the missing depth may be compensated by a corresponding nosing projection per DIN 18065.
