Housed Stringer Stair (Classic Variant) — Layout variation
Category: Layout variation
Stringer staircase whose treads are housed into vertical grooves in the side stringers — most traditional variant.
In housed stringer stairs, the treads are set into grooves cut into both timber stringers and held in place. The housings for the treads are today precisely cut with CNC routers. This construction is used primarily in solid timber staircases and differs from saddle constructions where treads rest on top of a stringer beam. The housing provides particularly high stability and a closed appearance.
