Stair Lighting — Glossary entry
Category: Glossary entry
Adequate illumination of staircases for accident prevention.
Good lighting is essential for preventing accidents on staircases. For workplaces, an illuminance of approximately 100 lux is required. Light switches should be placed at the top and bottom of the staircase. Clear illumination of step nosings — for example with LED step lighting — significantly improves safety, especially at night. Modern LED solutions can also be retrofitted and create a pleasant atmosphere.
