What "made to measure" means with us
With us every staircase is a custom build — not a special request but our standard. Because we manufacture in our own workshop in Witten, there are no catalogue sizes your house would have to conform to. Instead we adapt the staircase to your situation: to the actual floor height, to wall geometry, to the ceiling opening — exactly where crooked walls and unequal heights make a standard staircase fail. You freely choose construction type, wood and flight form.
- Suitable for old buildings: crooked walls, unequal floor heights and out-of-plumb walls are standard input for the measurement, not an obstacle
- Free choice of construction: stringer staircase (mortised or open-string), folded staircase (free-standing or on stringer beams), helical or spiral staircase
- All flight forms: straight, quarter- or half-turn, landing, Z- or U-shape — the flight form follows your floor plan, not a catalogue
- Six woods: oak, knotty oak, beech, beech heartwood, ash or hevea — oiled with hard wax oil, clear-lacquered or white-lacquered
- Material mix possible: treads, stringers and risers may be combined from different woods or surface finishes
- Full service from one source: on-site measurement, manufacture in Witten, installation and adjustment in place
Our process
On-site measurement of your stairwell
We come to you and carefully measure the stairwell by hand — with folding rule and sliding bevel, and with a rotating laser as a plumb and height reference. This captures floor height, wall geometry, out-of-plumb references and the ceiling opening exactly as built — not as drawn. Measuring fee €150-250, credited against the order.
Planning and material selection
From the measurement your staircase takes shape as a construction: we decide construction type, flight form, wood and surface finish together. You see material samples and discuss with us what suits your room and budget — from the straight stringer staircase to the turned folded staircase.
Manufacture in our Witten workshop
Stringers, treads, risers and balustrade are built to the millimetre of your measurement — no catalogue sizes because no catalogue rooms. Every component is cut to the captured dimensions of your situation.
Installation and adjustment on site
We deliver and install the staircase at your place — aligned and adjusted on site. Especially in old buildings this is where the advantage of made-to-measure shows: the staircase fits because it was built for exactly this room.
