Accessible stairs are designed to meet the needs of people with mobility impairments. This includes low rises, generous tread depths, slip-resistant surfaces, contrasting nosing markings and handrails on both sides. Design must comply with DIN 18040-1 (public buildings) and DIN 18040-2 (residential).
