Beech — Material species

Category: Material species

Hard timber with uniform grain and warm colour tone.

Beech, with a Brinell hardness of approximately 34 N/mm², is one of the hardest domestic hardwoods and a classic in stair construction. It features a uniform, fine grain and a warm, reddish-light colour tone. Beech offers good value for money and is easy to work. Compared to oak, beech is somewhat more sensitive to moisture and tends to move more, making careful surface treatment important.
