Oiling
Natural surface treatment that penetrates deep into the wood.
When oiling, the product penetrates deep into the wood pores without forming a closed film. The surface remains open-pored and 'breathable', and the natural grain is accentuated. Oiled surfaces feel warm and natural and can be spot-repaired when damaged — a decisive advantage over lacquer. In return, the surface is less resistant to moisture and must be re-oiled regularly (1–2 times per year). The question 'oil or lacquer?' is one of the most common in stair planning.
