Cable Railing — Glossary entry
Category: Glossary entry
Railing infill of horizontal bars or cables.
A cable railing is a railing infill in which horizontal bars or cables — usually stainless steel — are tensioned parallel to the stair flight. This design is reminiscent of a ship's railing and gives the staircase a modern, maritime appearance. Important: in households with children, the gap between the horizontal rails must not exceed 12 cm and the construction must not be usable as a climbing ladder.
