Computer-Aided Stair Planning (CAD) — Preparation steps
Category: Preparation steps
Digital stair design using specialised CAD software.
Computer-aided stair planning replaces drawing boards and manual elevation work with dedicated CAD applications. The software manages the plan layout, floor-to-floor height, rise-and-going ratio, stringer routing and handrail paths in a single continuous data model. From the construction data, workshop drawings, cut lists, templates and – for CNC production – machine programs are derived automatically. Further modules cover tread flare calculation for curved flights, structural sizing and cost estimation. Modern packages also offer photorealistic 3D visualisations and mobile configurators for use in client consultations.
