Guarding
Collective term for all types of fall protection on staircases.
Guarding is the building-code umbrella term for all devices that prevent falls on staircases, landings, galleries and open floor edges. These include railings, parapets, parapet railings and solid walls. The minimum height of guarding is regulated by state building codes and DIN 18065 and depends on the fall height and building use.
