Liming — Glossary entry
Category: Glossary entry
White pigmentation of wood pores for a pale vintage look.
In liming, white lime paste or a special lime wax is worked into the open pores of the wood. The pores stand out visually, creating a pale, washed look with vintage character. The technique is particularly suited to coarse-pored timbers such as oak and is especially effective combined with brushing. Limed stair treads pair beautifully with modern, light interior styles.
