Required Stair — Layout variation
Category: Layout variation
Staircase prescribed by building regulations as an escape route.
Building codes require at least one required stair in every building. Required stairs are subject to stricter demands regarding rise, going, stair width, railing height and load-bearing capacity. DIN 18065 defines rises between 140 mm and 200 mm and goings between 230 mm and 370 mm for required stairs. These stairs serve as an indispensable access and escape route.
