Intermediate Landing — Underfoot element
Category: Underfoot element
Landing between two stair flights.
The intermediate landing is a level, walkable surface between two successive flights within the same floor-to-floor height. It serves the change of direction – for example in a half-turn U-staircase or an L-shaped staircase – and at the same time provides a rest zone for the user. Under DIN 18065, the minimum depth of an intermediate landing is usually equal to the usable flight width. In contrast, the main landing concludes a flight at the end of the floor-to-floor height.
