Landing — Underfoot element

Category: Underfoot element

Horizontal platform interrupting the stair flight.

A landing is a horizontal platform that interrupts a stair flight. Landings divide longer flights into sections, facilitate direction changes and provide a resting area. Per DIN 18065, landings must be provided after at most 18 rises. A distinction is made between turn landings (for direction changes) and rest landings (to break up long straight flights).
