Steel Stair — Layout variation

Category: Layout variation

Staircase with a steel support structure.

Steel stairs use steel as the structural material for stringers, beams or newels. Steel enables particularly slender, filigree constructions with high load-bearing capacity. The treads can be made of steel itself (perforated plate, checker plate), timber, glass or natural stone. For exterior use, steel stairs are hot-dip galvanised or powder-coated to protect against corrosion. The combination of a steel frame and timber treads is one of the most popular solutions in modern stair construction.
