German standard for carpentry and timber construction, including staircases.
DIN 18334 is the ATV (General Technical Specifications for Construction Contracts) for carpentry and timber construction works and forms part of the German VOB construction contract rules. It regulates requirements for materials, execution and acceptance of timber structures and is used as the contractual basis when carpentry and wooden staircase works are tendered. For timber stair construction, it defines, among other things, material and surface requirements, permissible tolerances and billing principles. It thus complements the building-oriented DIN 18065 with a contract-law perspective.
