Glued Laminated Timber (Glulam Tread)
Stair tread made from glued timber laminations.
Glued laminated treads consist of several longitudinally or cross-wise glued timber laminations. This construction is more dimensionally stable than a tread from a single solid board, as the stresses in the individual laminations counterbalance each other — the tread warps less. Glulam is the standard construction for high-quality stair treads. Bonding uses moisture-resistant D3 or D4 adhesive for long-term durability.
