Natural stone stairs are made from stones such as granite, marble, slate, sandstone or travertine. Each stone has individual properties: granite is extremely hard and frost-proof, marble elegant but acid-sensitive, slate slip-resistant and modern. For outdoor stairs, frost-resistant types such as granite or basalt are suitable; for representative interior stairs, marble or polished granite is frequently chosen. The surface can be ground, polished, flamed or brushed.
