Sinus Stair Formula — Glossary entry
Category: Glossary entry
Trigonometric formula for optimal rise-going ratios.
The sinus stair formula is a trigonometric method for calculating the optimal ratio of rise and going as a function of the stair angle. It accounts for the fact that stride length changes with inclination and delivers an ergonomic going for every pitch angle. The formula complements simpler rules such as the pace rule and comfort rule and is used in particular for special stairs, space-saving stairs and steep stairs where the classical rules reach their limits.
