Stainless Steel — Glossary entry
Category: Glossary entry
Corrosion-resistant steel for railings, handrails and connections.
Stainless steel is an alloyed steel with a high chromium content that makes it corrosion-resistant and easy to maintain. In stair construction, stainless steel is primarily used for handrails, railing posts, spindles, cable infills and structural bolts. It gives the staircase a modern, timeless appearance and combines excellently with timber and glass. For exterior use, a higher-grade stainless steel (V4A/1.4571) should be used.
