Parapet Handrail — Edge-guard fitting
Category: Edge-guard fitting
Handrail mounted on a solid parapet wall.
The parapet handrail is fixed directly to a masonry or rendered parapet running alongside a staircase or landing. Unlike a railing handrail, it has no vertical balusters, as the solid parapet already provides fall protection. The required height – measured from the leading edge of the tread to the top of the handrail – depends on the fall height and is typically 90 cm in residential buildings, or at least 110 cm where the fall height exceeds 12 m.
