Wall Handrail — Edge-guard fitting

Category: Edge-guard fitting

Wall-mounted handrail without a freestanding railing — DIN 18040 requires 30 cm overhang and 50 mm finger clearance to the wall.

A wall handrail is fixed directly to the stair wall with brackets and provides support when climbing stairs without requiring a freestanding railing. It is fitted on the wall side while the open side usually has a full railing. DIN 18040 for accessible construction requires handrails on both sides extending 30 cm beyond the stair flight. The minimum clearance to the wall (finger clearance) must be 50 mm.
